Are You Building Your Blog(s) as Assets Online?

Posted on 24. May, 2010 by in Blog Tips

When new bloggers begin blogging to earn money online, there is a very important question that needs to be answered – Are You Building Assets Online?

Before we continue, let me tell you what is an asset exactly over here. Asset is basically an object that is profitable in nature. Basically, they are things that will keep pumping money for you with minimal money to maintain or run them.

For the average blogger, the strategy should be such that eventually all his money comes from automated sources online. There is a need to create a strategy such that a person is able to create a few sources of continual income online. This can be achieved with a little bit of focus and determination.

The reason why it is important to build assets online is that you would not want a day to come when you find that the day you stop blogging – the income along with it also stops coming. Overtim, the money from your blogs should all be invested smartly so that you can have even more sources of income.

The obvious question which comes up now is that: what are the kinds of asset which can be developed by an average blogger on the internet?

There are many of course, the first assets are your blog(s).

Always, start with one blog and end up with as many as you can. Hypothetically, if each of your blogs make even $100 per month, you can quickly run them with ghost writers, who you can pay $50 or so. But you still make another $50 sitting on your butt. Moreover, if you are providing consistent content your revenue will keep growing.

So it is important that you think like an entrepreneur when it comes to blogging. Please leave your comments on this below.

@Shabnam: It is very important to treat your blogging as a business. After all, you should get compensated for the service you provide.

Indeed you should treat a blog like a asset, if you actually want to make a business-level income from it. We should be consistently creating content, building relationships and networking among bloggers in our niche.

Nice post Vivek. I liked the point saying if you want to be an entrepreneur you need to think like one..
Most imp point here is when you take one blog, take it very seriously for few months and after that move to another one leaving that one on Auto-pilot mode…

It depend why people choose blogging. If someone choose just to share his/her thought then it’s ok that way but while someone going to think it a money making machine then it’s always necessary to build a proper plan and follow the path that way. Blogging for business definitely pay but one should treat it like a business.

I have not thought of blogging that way .. as an asset. It has been the means of earning online by more than a few people. I’m not a writer so blogging is not right for me. I have heard of a few people, one of them a travel blogger, who just spent her days traveling since she is earning so much by blogging about her travels. She’s enjoying herself then she writes about her travels then she has money. I love her life.
