Fear of the Unknown and Internet Entrepreneurship

Hi Guys, hope you are having a great new year bash back home. I figured I should keep you guys on your toes by writing a post on internet entrepreneurship. This is a personal experience which I am wanting to share with you.
Currently, I am interested in investing the money I have earned blogging on some lucrative website. After surveying around a little I hit upon the idea to start a website as an URL submission directory. People can submit their URL for building backlinks. As I am not knowledgable in PHP I approached a PHP developer for developing my website. He quoted the price of Rs 20,000 (approx. $400) initially and later reduced it to Rs 15,000 (approx. $300), which was the most competitive price that I was able to get.
However, the thing which I had only read in book finally became a reality for me. My mind began to be clouded with thoughts of whether the investment is worth it. I started having second thoughts on whether a URL directory will be able to give me Return of Investment. I feared whether my hard earned money would be wasted. These are the fears of unknown which I felt when I wanted to become an internet entrepreneur.
As I am yet to finalize my decision, I would like some feedback from your side whether it will be a profitable investment to develop a website as an URL submission directory. All help and questions will be highly appreciated.

First of all my best wishes!
I think this is a good idea but remember there are lots already in the market and now search engine have changed their algo also, I am sure if people are interested in it.
Another thing you can customize wordpress to work like a backlink service, why you want to pay for it.

I think you need to do some more research before venturing into this concept of yours. As you know there are plenty of URL submission sites available on the net……..
