Game Review: Mass Effect 2

Game Review about Mass Effect 2.

Mass Effect 2 starts on a bleak note that foreshadows the game’s darker side – an attack which leaves the SSV Normandy in pieces and leaves the future of the series main-man Shepard completely uncertain. However, it is the timely help from controversial pro-human organization called Cereberus and its chain-smoking boss The Illusive Man that help Shepard make a come back. Cereberus saves you because it needs you – Shepard to investigate into the fiery forces behind the disappearance of entire human colonies. Mass Effect 2 instantly begins to engage you in its gaming.

Whether you dislike Cereberus’ ulterior motives or loathe the questionable ways The Illusive Man runs Cereberus – the only thing which matters is that you owe them your life. And have no doubt over the fact that every move you make is closely monitored by Cereberus and The Illusive Man.

The main dangers that surround you in Mass Effect 2 are the locust-like species called Collectors. Cereberus provides you two human officers to accompany you during the mission. First, is the sexy Miranda and then a reticent Jacob who eventually becomes more and more open as the journey progresses. Eventually, more join your team. Among them is a lethal Asari named Samara, with an inflexible and unforgiving ethical code. Then there is a brooding assassin called Thane who belongs to the reptilian Drell race. However, it is the Salarian scientist Mordin Solus who is the finest character created in Mass Effect 2 yet. His moral misgivings and humaneness makes him a source for comic relief (his romantic advice will make you hysterical). This is the diverse team with whom you board the newly built vessel, appropriately called, The Normandy SR-2 with the always fiesty but, ever-reliable Joker at the steering.

The shooting in Mass Effect 2 is more immediate and responsive – this makes each encounter more intense and improves the pace of the game. There is a great cast of interesting and diverse characters who are packed with interesting dialogue and fantastic voice acting. Mass Effect 2 is an incredibly enjoyable RPG, one that has been a long time coming. Its an awesome package with all the thrills which makes the gaming experience engrossing and unforgettable.
