Some days, the blog posts just keep coming and coming. Others, it feels like a mountain needs to be moved for each word. There are always topics to be discussed, but sometimes it takes your brain a bit of coaxing to free them. If you’re stuck, here are some brainstorming techniques to get you writing again.

1. 101 Thoughts: Place your hands on the keyboard with an open Notepad window and start writing down ideas. The ideas don’t have to be good ideas or bad ideas, just ideas. It will become difficult, but keep striving until you reach 101.

2. Free Writing: Free writing or stream of consciousness writing is another great exercise to get your brain focused on getting some good blog posts. If you’re in front of a keyboard, open a notepad window and just start typing whatever comes to your mind. Don’t be concerned about typos or spelling, just let the thoughts come out.

3. Mind Map: Place your topic in the middle of a sheet of copy paper. From there, start writing things that are related to the center. Keep writing about the topic until you have filled multiple sheets of paper or twenty minutes has passed.

4. Create Unusual Combinations: Think about the topic of your blog and combine it with something that appears to be completely unrelated to that topic. Try to combine motivation with chocolate icing, business cards with hot sauce, dog training with Tarot cards and see where your brain travels.

5. Outlining: If you like organization, this brainstorming technique works well. Take the overall subject of your blog and break it down into its component parts. This is similar to the mind mapping technique, but it is completed in a much more orderly fashion.

6. Be Journalistic: Take your blog’s subject and approach it from a journalistic angle. You want to answer the six questions in journalism (who, what, when, where, why and how) with your topic. Find out who the experts are within your field and write a report about them.

7. Problem Solving: Are your readers repeatedly facing specific problems? Pick one of the problems that your readers might have and start writing down some of the solutions. Create unusual solutions and feel free to combine the solutions from multiple problems to see if something exciting happens.

8. Wordplay: Write silly poetry about your blog’s topic. Start with words that rhyme. Here’s an example: we’re gaining with the raining on dog training. Look at the patterns that emerge after several snippets have been written. Be as outlandish as possible.

9. Questions: Look around the room for twenty common objects. Ask yourself questions about those objects. What is the history of paper? What types of bowls did kings and queens use? What materials are involved in the creation of our household objects? If your topic is a concept, ask why that concept is good or bad.

10. Be prompted: Journal prompts get your brain to solve problems. Look at the questions or situations that are being prompted and see if you can associate it with your chosen topic. Take the unlikely associations and nurture them into blog posts.

Those great blog posts might be eluding you right now, but that doesn’t mean that they are gone forever. Your brain sometimes needs a kick start to get motivated again. Brainstorming adds that extra push to your writing.

The blinking cursor on the blank screen can be a nightmare for most bloggers. They struggle to come up with topics to write for their blog. It is a mind block which forces them to waste a lot of time thinking of topics on which they can write about on their blog.

Here are some ways in which you can come up with ideas to write on your blog:

Your Need: The first place where you need to look is within yourself. Is there a post that you would like to read? I am sure that there must be something that you wanted to know about in your niche, and then if you yourself answer to that question after a research then you have come up with an idea for a great original post. That is not only helping you but helping many other bloggers who have the same doubts as yours.

Trending Topics: You can check out the Trending Topics column on Twitter. That is indicative of what the latest buzz on the internet is. If you are smart you can get a trending topic to become a nice keyword for new post and then write an article on it. Then not only have you got an idea for a post but now you can also be sure about readers for that post.

Blog Subscription Emails: It is always a good idea if you have subscribed to email updates from other blogs of your own niche. Then when they post their articles you can get ideas for your new articles. It need not be on the same topic, your post can explore a different angle of the same topic. This is what most internet-savvy bloggers do for ideas on what to write.

Google News: You can subscribe to updates on all the latest news. You can edit settings such that only news for a particular keyword(s) be sent to your email. The keywords can be something to relate to your niche. This way whenever there is news on the internet about something related to your niche, you can be notified Google. You can adjust it to be sent weekly, daily or hourly – depending on your need.

These are some ways that many bloggers come up with great topics to write about on their blog. Hope you to will implement them to write even more interesting posts on your blog.
