Trackback is a way to boost your traffic to your blog. And trust me, it is one of the most under rated tools that we bloggers are aware. Trackbacking can be effective to (1) increase traffic for you and (2) build relationships with bloggers as well. We will discuss these two advantages separately.

Before we talk about why you should trackback, allow me to explain what is trackbacking.

What is a Trackback?

When you write a post for your blog, just below your text box there will be another box which allows you to send trackbacks. Trackback are a way in which you link your blog post to another blog’s post.

Once the article is published, the blog leaves a trackback on the other blog which appears in the comments section of that blog post. It has a link to your blog’s post as well as a arbitary summary along with it. Bear in mind, that your trackback needs to be approved by the blogger to whoms article you have trackbacked.

Okay cool. So how does Trackback generate traffic?

So when a reader reads the post on the blog you trackbacked to, he may click on your trackback link and arrive at your blog. The chances are more if you have especially trackbacked after writing something relevant to the other blog’s article. In turn, you get exposed to readers who never knew your blog existed.

Building Relations? Explain me that.

When you trackback to a blog, be sure to include a direct link to his blog or one of his posts in your article. If he finds that you are giving link love there is a good chance that he will accept your trackback. Also, this habit may also encourage him to link to you and trackback to your post in future. So two people can grow symbiotically. Imagine if you built such relationships with as many bloggers as you can. It would mean lots of link to your site. Automatically, you would get more traffic as well as build relationships.

Thanks for reading. Enjoy Your Blogging.
