H.R. 3797, Health Coverage Reporting

Health insurance providers would be able to use an alternative method for furnishing health coverage reporting forms under H.R. 3797.

The bill would allow providers to give a notice to beneficiaries that they can request a copy of their coverage statements. Providers would only be required to provide a copy if the beneficiary requests one.

The Affordable Care Act (Public Law 111-148 and Public Law 111-152) required providers, including employers, to report health insurance coverage to the IRS and furnish statements to beneficiaries, to prove compliance with the law’s individual mandate.
