“Migrant workers face oppression from both the middleman and their employer. They work without any security. They don’t get salaries on time. We have decided to create a database of migrant workers and roll out a health insurance scheme for them. The panchayats will stand by migrant workers in times of crisis. If any of them return to Bengal after leaving their job, the panchayat will have an alternative job ready for them. We will also launch a portal for migrant workers,” said Left Front Chairman Biman Bose.
